Shawn Katzbeck is the Business Development Manager for WPFF/WNLI and Harmony by the Bay. Shawn grew up in Hoffman Estates, Illinois where he attended Hoffman Estates High School. While in school, he loved to play football, baseball, and wrestle. After he graduated, Shawn joined the US Air Force.
As for favorite sports teams, there is no green nor gold to be found on Shawn’s list. His favorites include all the Chicago teams: Bears, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, and Black Hawks. He also enjoys a bit of college ball and keeps a close eye on North Carolina and the DePaul Blue Demons.
Shawn is well traveled, having lived in San Antonio, Texas; Victorville, California; Katzenbach, Germany; Falkenstein, Germany; Marinette, Wisconsin; and now Sturgeon Bay.
His most interesting job outside of radio was as an Electrical Systems Air Craft Electrician in the Air Force.
Shawn is married to Teena. Their courtship was a little out of the ordinary. Shawn met and got to know Teena over the telephone when he was stationed in California—and his marriage proposal to her was no exception. Before they even met in person, Shawn proposed by telephone. Teena accepted and it was a match made in heaven.
Shawn has worked in radio since 1992 but came to work for WPFF and WNLI because he was able to combine his work with his faith.
“I came to WPFF and WNLI because I could do what I love to do and work for ‘Who’ I love,” Shawn said.
Shawn is passionate about serving God, loving his wife, and providing for his children. He also has a huge heart to reach the lost. Bethesda’s new mission statement spoke directly to his heart.
“Music is the perfect medium to speak to the lost while giving them hope that can only come through our savior, Jesus Christ,” Shawn said. “Following Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8, this ministry gives us an opportunity to not only reach the lost but also to present the freeing Gospel so that others can receive the ultimate gift—grace from God!”
