Fran Schneider is the WPFF/WNLI Promotions Assistant and WNLI Weekend Host. Fran was born at Door County Memorial Hospital, now the home of Golden Living Assisted Living Center, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Fran grew up on a farm in Jacksonport, Wisconsin as the fourth of seven children and attended Sevastopol Schools until ninth grade. Fran’s family bought a grocery store in Egg Harbor and moved from the farm to the store while he was in high school. He graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1969. In high school, he wrestled as a freshman at the 103 pound weight class.
Fran has two sons, Adam and Paul, and a grandson, Patrick who turned 1 in November of 2012.
Serving as a police officer in Sheboygan for 11 years, Fran changed careers after a car accident. He then worked as a probation/parole agent with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Green Bay, the Fox Valley, Fond du Lac, Hudson, Beaver Dam and Shawano. Fran retired from the Department of Corrections in 2007 and moved back to Door County.
Fran’s favorite team is the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoys college basketball, keeping a close eye on University of North Carolina, Syracuse University, and the University of Wisconsin.
Christian radio has been instrumental in Fran’s spiritual growth and he became an active volunteer with the station to help further its reach to others. “Then I joined the staff as the Promotions Assistant in 2009,” Fran said. “I take the station’s van to events and in area parades, thus the nickname ‘Fran the Van Man.’”
Fran’s passion is his relationship with Jesus. “Jesus is and has been my rock and my fortress through the many storms in my life. This is why I am so blessed to be a part of Bethesda Christian Broadcasting at WPFF/WNLI, because that is their passion also,” Fran said. “We encourage listeners to ‘Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.’ (2 Peter 3:18).”
