Dave Gordon is the Executive Director of Bethesda Christian Broadcasting and the General Manager of WPFF and WNLI.
“Being involved in what God is doing is my passion. I love watching how He impacts people in different walks of life and having the chance to tell the story of His love for people, no matter what we’ve done, who we are, or how ‘out of order’ our life is. In Romans, Paul says, ‘If we don’t tell the people, how will they hear about God?’ I have a job that allows me to do that every day!” Dave said.
Dave’s hometown is Terre Haute, Indiana. He was an active young man in school, participating in baseball, basketball, tennis, drama, and music. All those activities made him pretty photogenic, too. “Of the 600 students in my high school graduating class, I probably had the most pictures in the yearbook,” Dave said. Dave still loves to play tennis—something he would do every day if he could.
Dave and his wife, Kerry, were married in 1989. They grew up on the same block just two doors away from each other and have known each other since elementary school. Kerry was a Division 1 college athlete. Today, she is the financial controller at Amerilux International in De Pere. Dave and Kerry have two sons. Ross is a National Merit Scholar studying History at UW-Oshkosh and Calvin attends high school at Green Bay Preble. Calvin is on the high school boys’ volleyball team.
Growing up, Dave was a Cincinnati Reds fan. In the 1980’s, he also became a fan of the Chicago Cubs and now has an appreciation for the Brewers, too. As for football, Dave has remained a true Indiana Hoosier and has liked the Indianapolis Colts ever since they arrived on scene. But since moving to Wisconsin in 2008, he has been hit by the Packer fever, even though he is married to a life-long Bears fan. In the world of basketball, Dave keeps an eye on the San Antonio Spurs.
The world of radio has taken Dave to Champaign (IL), Chicago, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, and Tulsa. His most interesting non-radio job was selling solar panels and Sears maintenance agreements in his early days of radio. He also has owned and operated an unfinished furniture store with Kerry.
Dave has traveled on several mission team trips to China, Honduras, Kenya, Macau, Thailand and Vietnam. He had an interesting experience visiting the Great Wall of China—he passed out! “I was in a foot race and the lack of oxygen got me. I was winning, though!” said Dave.
While working with KXOJ-FM in Tulsa, Dave had the opportunity to travel to Honduras with a Bethesda mission trip in 2007. He became close friends with the mission team’s leader, Mitch Hildebrant. When Bethesda Christian Broadcasting acquired WPFF and WNLI, a door of opportunity opened. Dave and Kerry moved their family to the region to join the ministry team.
“I am passionate about the Bethesda Christian Broadcasting’s mission–to impact people for Christ and equip them to put their faith into action,” Dave said. “The radio stations, festivals and concerts give people—at many different places in life—a chance to have an impact moment with God. For some it may be the first time they’ve even thought about Him in 20 years or more. We try to connect them with believers in their area. That’s the role we play in evangelism, ‘Until the Whole World Hears.’”
